Veneers

Dental veneersWhat are Veneers?

A veneer is a very thin ceramic shell or cover that is bonded to the surface of the tooth to improve its esthetics.

Am I a candidate for Porcelain Veneers?

Porcelain veneers are considered the ideal treatment for patients who wish to correct an array of cosmetic issues such as chipped or uneven teeth, spaces, misaligned or worn teeth, cracks and discoloration.

How are Porcelain Veneers Done?

Placement of veneer usually takes two or three visits. On the first visit Dr. Hoyson will take preliminary impressions of your existing teeth. These impressions will be utilized to create a beautiful wax mold of the final “look” of the new veneers. Each patient will be given the opportunity to review the preliminary wax model and changes can be made to the size, shape and appearance to ensure the patient’s new “ideal smile”.

On the second visit, Dr. Hoyson will carefully shape the teeth for the placement of the veneers. The enamel on the existing teeth may be conservatively reduced to make room for the veneers. An impression will be taken of the newly shaped teeth. These impressions will be sent to our exceptional dental lab Oral Arts where the veneers will be fabricated. This process takes approximately 10 to 14 days. While your new veneers are being fabricated Dr. Hoyson will provide you with beautiful provisional veneers to wear until you return for your final appointment. At the final visit, the provisional veneers will be removed, the newly shaped teeth will be thoroughly cleaned and etched. The veneers will be cemented or bonded with resin cement which is hardened by a high-intensity light projected on the veneers.

Maintaining Your Beautiful Smile

Porcelain veneers will look and feel like normal teeth, but care must be taken to avoid using your beautiful veneers as a tool for biting nails, opening plastic bags or any hard foods that can damage, fracture or debond your new veneers. Daily brushing and flossing as well as regular dental visits are recommended to preserve your beautiful smile. Please call our office to schedule a FREE veneer consultation.
